The Austin Trans Pink Pages is only available in print. There’s no PDF or online version. This limited accessibility feels true to our yellow pages inspiration, and it roots us in connection and community. You can get a free copy by attending any Gender Unbound event; we also have a few community distributors with physical spaces who stocked some copies. Or, get it from a friend—we encourage folks to share and pass this publication around.

If you are unable to get a copy in person, you can order one by mail from our store.

who can submit?

We are highlighting

  • Trans artists, businesses, professional services, organizations, and events in the Austin area.

  • Trans-led organizations, businesses, professional services, and creative projects outside of Austin who are able to provide services to people in the Austin area (online, remotely, or through periodic visits to the area).

  • Allies who meaningfully improve the lives of trans people in the Austin area.

Here are some definitions we are using for our submission process:

The trans umbrella

We use trans (short for transgender) as an umbrella term for anyone who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, including transfeminine, transmasculine, nonbinary, agender, gender fluid, third gender, and two spirit people.

trans-led or owned

We consider an organization, business, or other entity to be trans-led if 50% or more of its top level of leadership or ownership falls under the transgender umbrella as described above. If less than 50% of leaders/owners are trans, but they make a meaningful effort to treat trans folks well (externally and internally), we consider them an ally.

the austin area

We consider the Austin area to include a 50 mile radius from Downtown Austin, including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Kyle, San Marcos, Hutto, Buda, Lockhart, Manor, Marble Falls, Johnson City, Salado, and everything in between.

FAQs

Am I trans enough?

We consider anyone who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth as a person who falls under the trans umbrella. This includes people who do not, cannot, or do not wish to access medical transition—and people who do. This includes people who are “passing,” or “not passing,” or people who are perceived as cis (non-transgender). If your personal gender identity is different than the gender you were assigned at birth, there’s room for you under this umbrella.

Of course, we also realize that for many reasons--outness, safety concerns, uncertainty about identity, etc--some people don't feel that they can publicly claim the label for themselves. That is also totally fine! If you'd prefer to submit under the ally category instead, you're completely welcome to do so. It is 100% up to you.

Do I need a listing in order to buy an ad?

Yes, in order to purchase an ad, you must also have a listing in the book. It’s the old school phone book rules!

How come some ads have a custom border?

We were inspired by old school yellow pages phone book ads from the 60s through the 90s, and many of them had quirky borders as a way to stand out! By our own discretion, we allow custom borders for folks who choose the “design it for me” option upon ad space purchase.
