VISUAL ART VENDORS

BE A PART OF THE ARTIST MARKET AT TDOV

Gender Unbound, an Austin-based org uplifting trans and intersex artists, is putting on our fourth annual TDOV Community Picnic and Art Market! Last year we had over 500 attendees throughout a beautiful afternoon of sunshine, snacks, games, and community leisure and joy.

We are looking for transgender artists to show and sell their creations.

We are not looking for cisgender vendors, businesses selling products, or organizations promoting services.

The market will be outdoors. Electricity and Wi-Fi will not be available. There is limited space available, and this year we are offering spaces on a first-come-first-served basis.

We have two types of spaces available: 6’ table space & 10x10’ canopy space.

  • There are 22 spaces available for 6’ tables: these are covered, shaded spaces, so you do not need to bring a canopy, only your table and chairs. $60 with sliding scale (more info below).

  • There are 8 spaces available for 10x10’ canopies: you will need to bring your own canopy, tables, chairs, etc. You can set up your 10x10’ space however you like. $80 with sliding scale (more info below).

HOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT

  1. Are you transgender?

This is a Transgender Day of Visibility celebration; we are only interested in transgender vendors at this art market.

We consider the transgender umbrella to include anyone who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, including nonbinary, agender, gender fluid, third gender, two spirit people, women, and men.

(We check in on this question a couple times in this check out process, not to police anyone’s gender or identity, but because every year we get some well-meaning allies who don’t read all the instructions and submit anyways. If you are a well-meaning ally, please do not continue to submit for a spot! This is a trans only market.)
(If you are not sure if you’re “trans enough” — see our Pink Pages FAQs section at the bottom of the page for our general approach to that question.)

  2. Are you a visual artist?

The wares you are selling at this market must be visual art pieces or reproductions that you have created.
We’re not looking for brands who sell other artists’ work, or a line of products, or wares that are not visual art creations.
If you aren’t sure, feel free to reach out to us at curator (at) genderunbound.org with questions.

  3. Do you want a table or canopy space?

For 6’ table spaces, the standard cost is $60, with sliding scale options between $35 - 85.
For 10x10’ canopy spaces, the standard cost is $80, with sliding scale options between $55-105.

Gender Unbound is a small, 100% trans and intersex organizing team. We love putting on these events, and we need to consider material sustainability if we want to keep doing so. We hope that these sliding scale options can support that goal while keeping artist opportunities sustainable.

Please consider for yourself: "When I pay more, I know that I am helping others to access the event. When I pay in the middle, I know I am helping the organizers cover costs. And when I pay at the bottom, I know I am letting my community hold me and support me. All of these are wonderful and acceptable ways of participating." (Adapted from Hadassah Damien's work at Ride Free Fearless Money)

If you are unable to pay the tabling fee up front and would like a voucher to pay the fee on the day of the event, after sales are made, reach out to us at curator (at) genderunbound.org for that inquiry.
