Eli Berman is a composer-vocalist who creates improvised, electro-acoustic performances based in classical, Jewish cantorial, Yiddish, and Appalachian folk singing in addition to multiple experimental or ‘extended’ vocal techniques.

Eli has also written and been commissioned for a variety of pieces for concert, film, theater, and multimedia, including music for the Eschaton Ensemble of Vanderbilt University, an installation for the Pittsburgh Biennial, and the soundtracks to the TV pilot “Gone” and the short film “Flesh and Iron.” Their work has been premiered at multiple festivals including (R)evolution: Resonant Bodies at the Banff Centre, New Music On the Point, and the Atlantic Music Festival. Eli regularly performs works by other living composers as a soloist, chamber musician, and member of C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective in NYC. 

Eli is an undergrad studying Music and American studies. She’s currently building wearable, singable outfit-instruments out of PVC pipes for her thesis show.
