for submitting ad graphics
General guidelines
use the right dimensions & orientation
PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK the orientation, dimensions, and resolution of your image files before sending them in.
Exact dimensions are listed below. Use the associated icon as a reference for how it should look on the page (e.g. Is it taller than wide? or wider than tall?).
If your graphic is less than 300dpi, it may print blurry or pixelated. You may submit your files as .pdf .png .jpg .psd .ai or .eps
Email your files to us by January 31st, 2026
Please send your ad graphic to us at pinkpages@genderunbound.org — the earlier you send them to us, the more time we’ll have to review them and get back to you with any corrections or adjustments that we’d recommend. If we do not receive your ad graphics by the deadline, your ad will not be printed in the book and you will not receive a refund.
Content notes
Portrayals of nude bodies are OK, but please do not include visuals of simulated sex acts. As a 501c3, we are not able to include any endorsements or condemnation of any electoral political candidate, party, or official.
special printing considerations
Printing on newsprint
The Newspaper Club has these helpful design tips for creating graphics to be printed on newspaper.
Key guidelines include:
Keep in mind that colors on newsprint won’t be as bright as they are on screen. And graphics will not come out as sharp as other kinds of paper that you might be familiar with (magazines, for example), and it’s not as bright white as office paper.
Avoid artwork with very dark areas. Details in dark areas will merge together into one flat colour in print.
Traditional newspapers are printed with a CYMK printing process so all colours are made from cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks. Simple colours, which use just one or two of the ink colours, work best.
Colours with a small percentage of one of the inks are more likely to print inconsistently, and variations can be more noticeable over large, flat areas of colour.
Use 100%K (black) for all black text and details
Use single colours, (either cyan, magenta, yellow or black) for small text and details, and backgrounds for white text.
Avoid putting fine details or small text in white on top of colour photos.
Make sure that text and details contrast well with the background, as there will be less contrast in print.

Please design these with care and pay close attention to these specs:
BLEED: Your design must include a 5mm bleed. That’s an additional 5mm edge around the sides of the design, except the centerfold. This allows the image to be printed all the way up to the edges of the paper, with wiggle room for inconsistencies in how the pages are cut.
SAFETY MARGIN: Your design must follow the 10mm safety margin guidelines. This means that no text can be within 10mm of the edges of the paper and the centerfold.
Because these full bleed designs are more complicated, and because these placements are critical to the design of the entire publication itself, please submit these graphics as soon as possible so that our team can work with you to adjust and refine as needed.
Reference the InDesign template from the printer below, and be cognizant of which side your design will be printed on: the Front Inside Cover prints on the left side, the Back Inside Cover on the right, and the Back Cover on the left.
