Not looking for artists who are both cisgender and endosex that make work on gendered themes. This festival showcases the talents of transgender and/or intersex artists with no theme other than what they love to create. The only requirement for submission is that you are transgender, nonbinary, two-spirit, agender, and/or intersex.

We accept artists from everywhere! While the festival is in Austin, TX, we have featured artists from places like New York, California, New Hampshire, Florida, New Mexico, and France. In fact, we have limited funds to assist artists with art shipping and travel expenses (not including lodging) to the festival. If you are an out-of-town artist who needs this assistance you can indicate your need on the submission form.

Applying does not guarantee your acceptance to the festival. We will announce the final artist selections starting in July after submissions have been reviewed by our curators and organizing team.

The festival is created by Gender Portraits, a nonprofit project of the Austin Creative Alliance, and is funded in part by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division. Artists are never charged submission, commission, or participation fees. We want our artists to make money and empower themselves.

Deadline is Over.

Submissions ended on May 15th at midnight (PST)
